La Capannina, Bury

After suffering well publicised heart ache in recent times, this Italian staple seems to be back to full strength. On a balmy Spring day, the hubbub of busy mouths permeated my eager ears as I opened the heavy glass doors, and entered this Italian oasis of food heaven. La Capinnina has been my 'go-to' Italian Restaurant for some years now, and certainly did not disappoint.

La Capannina, Bury

Greeted as always with customary, yet not overbearing, Italian flair, I was shown to be table and eagerly perused the well stocked menu. My Funghi di Bosco (Pan fried Mushrooms with tomatoes, chilli and garlic) arrived swiftly, igniting my taste buds with a great depth of flavour, complimented by the refreshing tingle of chilli which teased but didn't overpower my palate.

Despite the fact the kitchen were wrestling with a busy Mother's Day serving, the food arrived piping hot, and I was not kept waiting in the slightest. A little disappointing was the fact that I desperately desired Agnello Brasato (Lamb Shank) for my main, however the kitchen could not provide this, yet they more than adequately served Lamb Henry instead- served upon a based of crushed potatoes which melted in the mouth. This cut of lamb was, I will be honest, to die for, and I did not want the meal to end!

Even though I was suitably stuffed by the exquisite cuisine of La Capannina, the sheer quality made the dessert menu impossible to discard. When my sumptuous cheesecake arrived, I was duly thankful that my tummy has expanded over the past few years, and can easily fit in the extra treats on offer! Presentation, taste, quality and delicacy were all on perfect show!

Bury is an area growing in the discerningness of its population. They come from far and wide, and because of this, they expect a level of quality in their restaurants. La Capannina is one of those places who can be relied upon to provide this reliability. We need restaurants and establishments of quality in the area and La Capannina certainly rise to the challenge.

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed your meal :) I'm a vegan so I guess I wouldn't choose the restaurant but still very detailed review.
